It has been a rough ride for Bitcoin during the past weeks: Criminal investigations and arrests based on money laundering charges, assisting drug trafficking, and other allegations. In NYC, finance regulators threatened with draconian and crippling regulation. Then Apple and the Russians dug deep in their totalitarian spirit, banning anything Bitcoin in their respective feuds.
Finally, this week, we witnessed the demise of a struggling exchange, which in its last breath, blamed it on some known and well documented protocol vulnerabilities, which then lead to a concerted DDoS attack on the whole Bitcoin network, and a full stop of most exchanges around the world.
Maybe it is time to focus on the positives, such as the humanitarian causes supported by Bitcoin and its siblings, such as DogeCoin, and leave behind for a while these sad days of cryptocurrency history.
Probably in the no so far future we will refer to this era as the dark ages of cryptocurrencies. However, there is a lot of positive stuff happening around, that unfortunately, not always makes it to the traditional media press rooms. Have a look at some of the activities that have been organized for purpose of spreading the use of cryptocurrencies through goodwill and charitable endeavors.

Lucie's Place works with homeless Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender young adults in the Central Arkansas area. While LGBT individuals only represent 5-10% of the general population, they represent 20-40% of the homeless population.
Lucie's Place is currently raising money to purchase a home and open a Transitional Living Program (TLP). In this TLP, residents will safely live and develop the skills necessary for their future independence.
